By BBN staff: Ronlee Petillo, 33, who was charged with kidnapping his common-law partner in May, is a free man tonight after the alleged victim told court the incident never happened.
Petillo was charged by police, although the woman stressed that she was not kidnapped and went so far as to give a TV interview to explain that there had been no kidnapping. She alleged that the police still charged her because she had a grievance against Petillo.
Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford closed the case today after the Crown produced no evidence of kidnapping in court. Petillo was charged together with a minor who was also acquitted of the charges against him.
