By Aaron Humes: Chavez Tyrone Garbutt, 26, of Mahogany Heights, District of Belize, appeared in Belize City Magistrates Court to be charged with two criminal offenses of threatening to kill and common assault.
Garbutt has pleaded not guilty to threatening to kill his ex-common-law wife on May 25 as well as assault.
In court, Garbutt told magistrate Kara Walters that the virtual plaintiff was his now-pregnant ex-partner of 5 months, but they hadn’t been together for 3 years. They share a child who is in kindergarten but do not live together.
Magistrate Walters offered Garbutt bail in the amount of $1,500 plus bail in the same amount he was able to pay at the end of the day.
Garbutt must not interfere with the Virtual Complainant or any of her family members and he must stay 100 yards away from her. Magistrate Walters also ordered him to report to the Mahogany Heights Police Station every Friday beginning next week on Friday, June 3. He returns to court on July 18.
